Must know Travel apps

Table of Contents

Waze

Google Maps or Waze, it is all preference, but at the end of the day, for me personally, Waze wins if you are traveling around Asia, where Waze is more popular and better in navigation than Google Maps.

The app warns you about traffic incidents, speed cameras and offers different routes to the location, but those aren’t even the best parts, the best part is that it can be used offline without any issues, you just favorite the location while you have an internet connection and then close the app, and once opened you can select the destination and start traveling without using your internet.

PackPoint

PackPoint has helped me numerous times with packaging. Once the app is downloaded you just put where you are going and when and it shows the best packaging options for you.

It is super handy if you are traveling to countries where the weather can change from minute to minute.

FlightAware

FlightAware app screen

FlightAware has both website and an app, and they work in the same way, both help you track your flights or other persons in real-time. You can easily find out if your flight will be delayed, or if your flight had to be rerouted.

It is great if you have a connection flight so you can easily check where it is at any moment.

Komoot

Looking for the ultimate hiking or biking route app? Komoot maps all of the different trails in the area that you wish. The app can be used all over the world and what is even better you can see the planned and completed tours that you did.

Skyscanner

The best and easiest way to find cheap flights for your destination. Skyscanner offers numerous tools in the app that benefit travelers like me wishing to travel anywhere, like cheapest flights of the month, where you can see where you can travel for cheapest fairs from your desired location.

Google Flights and Momodo for Asia, are both great alternatives if you do not wish to use Skyscanner.

Lightroom mobile

Lightroom Mobile is my favorite app of all of them, mostly because I take a lot of pictures and videos for my Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok. Lightroom offers almost the same things as a desktop version, presets, adjusting colors, lights, and more.

Personally, it is great because I can edit a photo on my phone and post it right away. I even have some free mobile Lightroom presets that can be downloaded that I use on all of my photos!

Tripit

Tripit is an app that offers you to have everything in one place, itinerary, copies of your credit cards, passports, flights, and hotel confirmations. You can easily write everything done and have it accessible just one click away.

LoungeBuddy

LoungeBuddy is an app that offers you to look up lounges in certain airports. It has helped me numerous times while I was waiting for my flight to come or even worse if my flight was delayed.

LoungeBuddy does not only look up paid lounges, but it looks both paid and free at once and the best part is that you can easily filter if you wish to pay for your lounge, what are the prices, and much more.

Citymapper

Citymapper helps you explore major cities in an easy and not stressful way with up to the minute info about transit, ferries, bike share, and other transportation services.

You can use the app in almost all major cities in North America, Europe, Australia, Asia, and South America.

Airbnb

You probably already have this app installed on your phone, but Airbnb is worth mentioning. Airbnb offers rentals for a room, house, and any other accommodation that you can think of.

The app lets you filter everything and the booking process is fairly easy once you find your perfect spot.

Meetup is an easy-to-use app for all solo travelers that wish to meet locals and hang out. It is easy to use, and most importantly it is safe! way to make friends in different countries.

Splitwise

If you have ever traveled with friends or even family you know how hard it can be to track all of the expenses that each one of you paid, one paid for dinner, one paid for hotel, etc.

Well, Splitwise helps with that, it shows how much each person is spending and who owes money to who. It is very easy to use and on long trips with friends, it can save you a lot of headaches.

TrabeePocket

A perfect app for anybody looking to stay on top of your budget. App has an exchange rate calculator that can help you easily understand how much you are spending with each transaction.

TripAdvisor

TripAdvisor is one of the biggest and most popular review-based applications for travelers around the world. With over 800 million reviews you can find a review on almost any restaurant, accommodation, or attraction in any city in the world.

AirHelp

Have you ever endured the pain of delayed flights, canceled flights, or even delayed onboarding? Well, AirHelp helps with all of that in a simple website and application. It is perfect for any traveler because it covers both US and EU laws.

This app helps make a complicated and stressful process very simple and easy in a couple of minutes and a couple of clicks. If your claim is successful, they take 25% of the payout and you get a reminder. But remember if you are doing it alone without AirHelp there is only a 1% chance that you will get your claim back.
