With its lake, picture-perfect church on an island alongside the medieval castle clinging to a rocky cliff and some of the highest peaks of the Julian Alps and the Karavanke as backdrops, Bled is Slovenia’s most popular resort.
Slovenian is the main language of Slovenia, alongside Slovenian you will hear a lot of people speaking Croatian, English, German and Italian.
Euro is the main currency in Slovenia, but if you have visited any of the neighborhood countries you can easily convert those currencies to Euros if needed.
Lake Bled is a very small city and there are only a couple of ATM-s there, so be careful when withdrawing money because they often get empty pretty quickly, therefore I would recommend to stock up on cash before going there.
It can get a bit cold at night in Bled since it is situated on a lake, so be sure to carry some clothes that can keep you warm if you wish to go for a stroll around the lake in the evening.
Traveling around Bled is very easy. You can easily go all over Bled by foot, or even better if you like biking I would highly recommend it.
There is a lot of places around Bled, but if you wish to visit them, the car is the best solution.

Rikli Balance Hotel is a state-of-the-art hotel that has been restored just recently. It features a view of Lake Bled from the rooms alongside a modern spa center with indoor and outdoor pools. This restaurant traditionally serves traditional Slovenia food. Located just opposite to the bus station, it is easily located, decorations are made in a traditional manner similar to the cuisine that it offers. The main dish that is a winner is Carniolan sausage which is a must-try.

Pizzeria Rustika or what most people call it “The best pizza in Bled”, it is located just behind the church. Even if it is a pizza place, it offers traditional flavor to its pizzas, and that can be seen by some names of their pizzas such as 3glav pizza, Kraška and many more.

The most traditional dessert in Slovenia and Bled is the kremsnita. It is a vanilla custard cake topped with whipped cream and a crunchy crispy crust. At Slascicarna Zima you can find the best kremsnitas in all of Lake Bled. Disclaimer: The best kremsintas are located in Samobor (a small city outside of Zagreb also known as Samoborska Kremsnita).

When I first came to Lake Bled this was the first thing that I did after I settled in the hotel. Visually this was one of the most impressive things that I have seen in a long time. The church that is on a small island in the middle of the lake is stunning along with the castle that is on a high cliff looking on the whole Lake Bled. Everything there is just relaxing and perfect for anybody willing to have some me-time.
The church that sits on Island? Yes, it is called the Bled Island, and you can easily visit it by renting a small boat that you can row, also if do not want to row and you have come to Bled just to relax you can easily jump on a boat that can bring you there without any rowing. Once on Bled Island you can walk the 90 stairs and visit the church of the Assumption, there you can ring the bell and people say that it brings you good luck.
If you wish to experience the real Lake Bled I advise that you climb up to Bled Castle. Located on a rocky cliff around 135 meters above the Lake, Bled Castle offers the best and most beautiful view of the whole lake and the city.
Rafting is hugely popular at Lake Bled, and especially if you are in an outdoor country like Slovenia, it has even more impact. If you are more of an outdoorsy type, I advise you to rent a bicycle and just cycle around the Bled and explore a little bit of an outer part of the Lake bled.
