Morocco and Marrakech were the first country and city that I visited in Africa. Marrakech is a beautiful and colorful city filled with interesting things to do and see, things to eat, and especially places to stay.
Centar part of Marrakech, Jemaa El Fna is a must visit place when visiting this beautiful city. Jemaa El Fna is a Marrakechs’ Central market where you can buy almost anything from fresh orange juice to souvenirs and other things.
In general, this is a great first place to visit when landing in Marrakech, because from there every major attraction is just a couple of minutes away.
A grand palace of Marrakech, it was created in the 19century by Minister Ahmed bin Musa. Today it is an artistic masterpiece filled with Moroccan architecture, decorated colorful windows, and much more.
In my opinon this is the most beautiful attracion in Marrakech next to Jardin Majorelle.
Jardin Majorelle, a home to one of the most famous designers of all time – Yves Saint Lauren. This garden is located right next to Museum Yves Saint Lauren, and it is beautiful, filled with flowers, lakes, and birds, this is a relaxing heaven in a busy city.
Jardin is located only 10 minutes walking from Jemaa El Fna it is in a perfect location to be visited anytime.
Located right next to Jemaa El Fna, and featured on almost all Marrakech pictures, Koutoubia Mosque is the largest mosque in Morocco.
Having a huge open area right in front of the mosque creates an amazing spot for pictures and travelers to create memories when visiting Marrakech.
As mentioned above, next to Jardin Majorelle there is the Museum of Yves Saint Lauren. Here you will be able to see some of his most iconic designs, earliest creations, and even unreleased creations.
When visiting Museum and Jardin Majorelle on the same day I would recommend that you buy a dual ticket for both attractions since then you will be able to skip a huge line that is created for Jardin Majorelle only!
Desert tours are some of the most popular things that you can do in Marrakech, mostly because Morocco is so close to the Sahara, there is a number of tours that you can take!
Just let me note that a real Sahara tour takes about 3-4 days so plan your trip accordingly.
You have two options, visiting the Sahara desert or grabbing a day trip to Ouzoud Waterfalls, but if you organize yourself in the right way you can take both!
Ouzoud waterfalls are breathtaking huge waterfalls located around 2-3 Hours from Marrakech, and the whole trip usually takes 6-10 hours depending on the service provider.
Riad is a combination of hotels and apartments that can only be visited in Morocco, they are gorgeous old buildings renovated to be used as a tourist attractions and accommodations located usually in the Medina of Marrakech area. In most situations, they have an indoor pool and amazing staff with even better looking rooms.
Below you can quickly find some riads:
Local Mint Tea and great local cuisine are what make Marrakech a great tourist city, not only is the food great but people are great also!
Drink fresh orange juice or try local Mint tea are my two must-try recommendations when visiting Morocco in general.
Marrakech is a tourist city, and you will learn that really quickly. People there are great salesman and they know what they are doing, that is why you can buy almost anything in Marrakech, but the best part is that you can bargain for it.
Not a single price is a fixed one, so be sure to bring those prices down as much as you can before buying.
